Message BoardI would like to know time for velatory of Mr.Gregson next week in your church.please. Hello Andrew and Ann,
Greetings from the family in Canada.
My girlfriend has a significant family history associated with St Andrews. All her mothers family have some link to the church, whether that be christenings, marriages, or unfortunately funerals. whilst we now both live in amserdam, she feels a bond to this church and we would love to get married in this church. How do we go about making this happen?
All the best and warmest regards
David Burroughes Steven Moss
You can contact me off-site if you wish. Basically the church's records up 1900 have been transcribed and are available at the rear of the church on the far side from the entrance between 9am and 4pm Monday - Thursday and Saturday mornings. They are also available at the local library where the censuses are also available in printed form and a searchable CD. Thornton Barn is situated at the eastern end of Drumacre Lane, probably only shown on older O.S. maps. 20th century records are available at the Lancs Record Office in Preston where you can also view old O.S. maps. Your father is buried in grave no. NGC109. He was buried on 9th December, 1983, aged 49. At this time he was, I believe, living at 4, The Drive, Longton, some 200 yards west of the Church. Does anyone in Longton remember the manor house, next to the manor house farm, I was Miss Blacketts evacuee.
I am now 72 yrs old and would appreciate any photos, and also has anyone got any photos of the children who went to the longton
county council school, at the time when the war was on, I would appreciate any info, from anyone who remembers me, Miss Blacket
died after I returned to Manchester, and I came to see where she was buried when I was seveteen. and it was in your church St
